Scott Von Doviak is the film critic for Nerve, a regular contributor to The A.V. Club and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and the author of Hick Flicks: The Rise and Fall of Redneck Cinema (McFarland & Co.), the rollicking, definitive history of hixploitation cinema. His freelance writing on film has appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, Oxford American, Alternative Cinema, Film Threat and many other publications. Despite pleas from his loved ones, he is currently watching and reviewing every movie on the IMDb Bottom 100 list. He is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, and now lives in Austin, TX with his four-legged life partner Maury the Wonder Chibeagle.
